11-26-13 Selections

Objects of Love and
Fear are both Guaranteed to
Get Our Attention.

Paying Attention
To Being Awareness pays
Divine Dividends.

Empty of a "myself
As I think" I Am Full of
"Myself as I AM."

Instead of Being
The Storyteller become
The Story's Witness.

The Story of God
Is more Self-Fulfilling than
The Story of Me.

Mental Stillness is
The Only Way to Restore
The Natural State.

Being Mentally
Still restores Awareness to
Its Edenic State.

The Animating
Principle of Existence
Is This Awareness.

Mentally estranged
From the Absolute Nature
Of Self-Awareness.

Whatever makes You
Pay Attention to "What Is"
Expands Awareness.

Hay-Ku of the Day (Amazing Grace)

God as the Aware
Presence of Being I Am
Is Amazing Grace.

God as the Aware
Presence of Being I Am
Is the Living Lord.

God as the Aware
Presence of Being I Am
Is the Heart of All.

God as the Aware
Presence of Being I Am
Is This Awareness.

[Rich Note: This was originally written to share with close friends, but it felt right to memorialized it here:

"I was sitting with a friend named Robert last night over Pizza in a state of "Full-Emptiness" (Tangible Nothingness) simply smiling at him across the restaurant table, when Robert suddenly starts pointing in one direction, then another, repeating as he pointed, "God's not there there...God's not there!" Then Robert stops, opens his hands, and moves them, palms inward, towards his chest and says, "God's in Here, God's in Here!"  At which point, he is  clearly Blessed with a Glimpse of God's Presence in his own Heart, as he started to tear-up with the Sacredness of the Moment. Then Robert does it again with even greater emphasis to see if it rely happened, gets this Wonderfully Beatific Look on his face and begins to cry with the Joy of being given yet another Divine Glimpse.  What a Blessing and Joy to Be Presence to a Conscious Birth in Awareness of God's Living Presence in such a Dear Friend (one who would have been a great drinking buddy in the old days.) What a Sweet Wonderful and Unforgettable Miracle of Life!"]

Haiku of the Day (Letting It Be As It Is)

"Letting It Be As
It Is" is the only way
To "Be As You Are."

"Letting It Be As
It Is" is the only way
To "Be As I Am."

"Letting It Be As
It Is" is the only way
To Know "I Am That."

The "Inner aligns
With the Outer" by "Letting
It Be As It Is."

[Rich Note:  A "synchronous mutual arising" from a book I am presently reading:

"The way to the source begins with our appreciation of life as it is right now. With appreciation comes acceptance and integration, the keys to transformation -- the keys to the kingdom."

(From "I Am God -- And So Are You," by James C. Wilhelm; with whom I have some rather "interesting historical connections" {Re: Air Force, Vietnam, DaNang AB, AC-119K Gunships, a long search for Truth/God, multiple epiphanies, a Spiritual Friend named Richard...}).]

Hay-Ku of the Day ("Blessed are the Peacemakers")

A "single-eye" is
A mind undivided by
Mental reflection.

We play at being
Two through mental reflection
And self-projection.

A Peacemaker sees
Though a single eye and not
With a double-mind.

Re: "Can you guys explain what is meant by "seeing the world as separate". "We define ourselves as separate" ...(I'm)...not you...(and)...(you're)...not me ....(?)

Part 1:

Of TWAIN ONE NEW MAN***

(Introduction to Chapter 5 of OOMM)

"What’s going on within the geographic confines of your skull, behind your eyes, right now? Is it not everything you see before your eyes, and is this not actually composed of patterns of mental energy arising within your own head? Is it not also true that the patterns which you presently identify as yourself are composed of the exact same mental material you identify as other? This being true, how is it possible to be so intimately identified with one portion of your awareness, and so self-alienated from the other? Perhaps because the preponderance of your attention is habitually focused on the former, while you are proportional less sensitive and aware of the latter."

Hay-Ku of the Day (The Conceptual Fire Hose/Data-Dump

The Hay-Ku are Freeze
Frame Snap-Shots that Capture a much
Faster thought process.

"Languaging" that
Can't keep up with the speed of
Thought can't report (capture or record) It.

The mental keyboard's
Not capable of that kind
Of computation.

So it would seem you
Have found a sound reason for
Recording what's said.

[Rich Note: The following letter to a Friend offers some necessary context to both the origin of the Hay-Ku and the conceptual "data-dumps," both verbal and written, I have been prone to for the last 30 years or so:

It would seem "the circle has come full" here,  Kris, as this all really started with a ton of spontaneous "flow of consciousness" writing --all of which came like "one big sentence," in need of a ton of semi-colons in order to make it only somewhat intelligible to another (Re: I've still got 5000 3x5 Cards from the early 80's that break down into 250 + essays of the stuff, that haven't seen the light of day, and could only understood and interpreted here ) -- occasioned by a 1978 epiphany.

Thus, began a 20 year process (as reflected in the 2006 OOMM book) of "conceptual distillation" -- from "flow of consciousness" prose, to abstract drawings, to rhymed and unrhymed poetry, to journal notes, to one-liners, to short essays, to metaphysical metaphors (once suggested by a dear friend to scale down and unitize essential principles and concepts; which   itself resulted in more than 200 such metaphors in 1992 and the 18 or so favorites used to introduce each chapter of OOMM) -- in order to express the overall understanding (or "Big Picture") here, in "slowed and scaled down-mediums of expression," to make it intelligible to "particular human minds, states of consciousness and personal temperaments."

So it would seem that I now need to follow a "similar distillation process" with respect to the expanded "verbal flow of consciousness streams"c I have become prone to in the last 6 months or so.

Yours In Truth I Am ...Rich

PS1: I'm (re: the "me that says my" -- the "keyboard, not the computer") is really not that smart, Kris.  I just discovered how to "get out of the my own way" long enough for "Oneness" (Re: "Divine Mind, I AMness, Being, Presence, Consciousness, Awareness of Being, the Spirit of God, Source or Heart" which We All Ultimately Are and Express in Particular Unitized Forms or States) to speak to Itself; and, thereby, Externalize, Reflect, Re-Cognize and Re-member, in the medium of conceptual language, What It Already Knows Within, by Virtue of Being All That Is, Was or Ever Will Be Relatively or Self-Reflectively Knowable.

PS2: Now, of course, the particular personal character and qualities (Re: the passion, aggressiveness and emotional temperament of a Scorpio) of the delivery mechanism or medium  (Re: the Rich body-mind organism/unit or "Richness" as Fred Davis liked to refers to it) will naturally be conveyed in the transmission of any Truth shared; but only as a superficial taint or stain which must be overlooked or seen through in order to receive the full import and impact of what is being offered.

PS3: The "Heart" (or I AMness) referred to yesterday is the "Heart of Awareness," which is Non-Dual and Absolutely One (without a Second), and so Incapable of "Cringing" (or any other such emotional contraction); in the same way Pure Light cannot Be subject to the Darkness of Self-Ignorance or Pure Love Be subject to Fear's Contraction.  Ergo:  It was the body-mind organism (or "Krisness" ;-) that both cringed and then came up with a reason for the cringe. For Pure Oneness, in and of Itself, simply observes without comment, judgment, opinion, belief or any particular frame of personal self-reference; and, as such, is incapable of cringing at anything (that It Ultimately Is as "Nothing Being Everything"). Neither does it feel compelled to help another do something "better" when It Is the One and Only Doer.

PS4:  Still and All, Kris, I have been turning on the "Conceptual Firehose" rather indiscriminately recently, and what came up (and in the specific context of what Midge recently offered)from you is quite valuable here; and I am very much interested in exploring the subject with you further; as I have have been a number of related "outer warning signs" recently (Re: a traffic stop warning for an illegal turn on red the previous night), yours being the last.]

Hay-Ku of the Day (A "Short-Cut" Home)

Take a moment to
Rest as Awareness letting
Whatever Is Be.

Rest a moment in
Being Awareness and "Let
It Be As It Is."

Taking a moment
Abiding as Awareness
Just Letting It Be.

[Rich Note: The following synoptic extract from the Introduction to Scott Kiloby's "Living Realization" (which is highly recommended) -- an extract that, at least seen from here, offers the "shortest-cut" you will ever find back to the "Eternal Home" you never really left (except, of course, in the "story of me" that the "me that says my" is so fond of constantly telling itself):

"The main invitation in "Living Realization is this:

- Recognize awareness
- Let all appearances be as they are
- See the appearances are inseparable.

"There are many other pointers, tools and inquires in this book, but these simple pointers are all you need to recognize freedom in the midst of your life.

"We must start with something fundamental: basic, everyday awareness. What is awareness?  Right now, before you entertain your story of who you are and before any other thought arises, there is a basic awake, thought-free awareness here.

"Awareness is the simple capacity to be aware. It's as simple as that. If you try to understand that intellectually, you miss the simplicity of it.  Before you think about it, are you aware right now? That is awareness.

"Stop for one moment and bring your full attention to this basic awareness.  It is what allows the present moment to effortless be as it is.  Notice that when you are not thinking, this basic awareness simply allows, for example, the wall to be as it is. It naturally allows a table to be as it is.  It naturally allows the air in the room to be as it is.  It takes no effort to let everything be as it is. Discover this for yourself.

"Stop thinking for long enough to get one glimpse of the fact that there is a basic awareness already here.  All you have to do is notice that it is here.  Then notice that when a thought arises, this basic awareness allows even that thought to be as it is.

"At first, this awareness might not seem like a big deal at all.  Perhaps thoughts rush back in very quickly, one after another, and take over attention.  But that one glimpse of life without thought is actually monumental. It is a doorway to freedom.

"The more we return to this basic awareness, over and over, through out the day, the more we see that it is always already present. We discover for ourselves exactly what the words acceptance, freedom, love, peace, compassion, wisdom and selflessness are really referring to: our own immediate experlience in the here and now, free of the belief in separation.

Hay-Ku of the Day (The Eye I Am)

A Prerequisite
To any Existence is
First Being Aware.

Awareness is the
Divine Eye of God that allows
Everything to Be.

Awareness is the
Divine Eye of God that allows
The "Seeing I Am."

Hay-Ku of the Day ("Clarity, Ease and Flow")

"Clarity, Ease and
Flow" all characterize a
"Liberated Mind."

"Clarity, Ease and
Flow" are the attributes of
"A Satisfied Mind."

"Clarity, Ease and
Flow" are basic qualities
Of "Enlightenment."

"Clarity, Ease and
Flow" mark the "Natural State"
Of "Pure Awareness."

[Rich Note: "Clarity, Ease and Flow" is a beautiful verbal characterization used by an OC (Ocean City) buddy; who used those words to indicate his "state of mind, sense and emotion" after spontaneously beginning his own version of "Staying with the I AM" (Sri Nisargadatta's quintessential spiritual discipline, practice or skillful means) for several days, trying a few simple, feeling related experiments suggested the day before and a subsequent experience of what can only be called a "Breakthrough" (of the Spiritual Order Meister Eckart once described).

In this regard, Bill Samuel talks about "words strung together in a new way" -- relative words that cannot, in and of themselves, ever hope to convey what "Enlightenment, Pure Awareness of Being, I Amness or Divine Presence," as a "Non-Relative, Unitary or Divine State," actually Is; but can evoke a "Feeling" (such as Love) that can transmit a direct sense of It.  Well, "Clarity, Ease and Flow" is just such a "New String of Words" (at least as experienced Here); a String of Words that has a legitimate potential to evoke a "feeling based, direct apprehension" of what "God, Enlightenment or I Am" actually looks and feels like from a Body-Mind Organism and/or Aware Sensory Presence Perspective.]

Hay-Ku of the Day (Seeing the Light)

This Self-Radiant
Awareness of Being I
Am is Living Light.

Scriptural Light is
This Awareness of Being
I Am and You Are.

The Self-Radiant
Presence of this Awareness
Is the Sun of God.

[Rich Note: LIFE = AWARENESS of BEING = LIGHT = I AM = CHRIST = GLORY = GOD.]

[Rich Note - Or in more Scriptural (and symbolic) language:

"Ye are the LIGHT of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." Matthew 5:14

"In him was LIFE; and the LIFE was the LIGHT of men. And the LIGHT shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." John 1:4-6 KJV

"That was the true LIGHT, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." John 1:9-10 KJV

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I AM the LIGHT of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the LIGHT of LIFE." John 8:9

"As long as I AM in the world, I AM the LIGHT of the world." John 9:5

"I AM come a LIGHT into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." John 12:45-46]

Hay-Ku of the Day (No Way Out)

There is No Way to
Get Right with Reality
From the Outside-In.

Outside fixes to
Inner problems only serve
To propagate them.

We keep trying to
Change the reflected Image
From the outside in.

No Way to change what
You Are Conscious of Being
From the Outside-In.

[Rich Note: Inspired by a spontaneous response to a Twitter invitation to vote for a new "Global Thought Leader":

Do we really need a "Global Thought Leader," which is just another thinly veiled attempt to change a "Collective Outer Reflection" of what we, as "presumed separate entities," are presently Conscious of Being (from the inside-out); when, at the end of the day, what is truly needed is a "Total Inner Make-Over" (Re: "Change of Heart") from our "present self-focused and reflective" relation to Reality to a Direct One.

However, if you are one who still feels an abiding interest in exploring "outer fixes" to an "inner problem," I would offer a "write-in nomination" of Neville Goddard (who offers "The Secret on Spiritual Steroids" for gratis) for "Global Thought Leader" who can "actually deliever the goods" to those who have a sincere desire to actually "change their mind's and hearts".]

Hay-Ku of the Day (The Natural State)

The Natural State
Of Existence is Being
Present and Aware.

What's Naturally
Present prior to conception
Is This Awareness.

What's Naturally
Present prior to self-thought is
The Knowledge I Am.

[Rich Note: Related "Pointers" from John Greven:

"Before the next thought appears, you already are what you are. Leave all the concepts and have a clear sense of what is already naturally present. That does not take much time or effort to reveal itself, since it is shining in plain view."

Explore, taste, fall in love with this undeniable presence which is bathing and embracing every thought, feeling and perception. The world is dancing in the warm and radiant light of consciousness-presence-light. Discover the glory and beauty of this presence by turning to it and being absorbed in it."]

Hay-Ku of the Day (Many Mansions)

The human mind is
A mental house divided
By relative thought

Self-focused mind is
A mental house divided—
Cain against Able!

Who abides on the
Throne of conscious attention
In your mental house?

Enlightenment sees
The House as whole, while mind builds
It with mental bricks.

[Rich Note: All four of these OOMM Oldies were selected to complement the following response to a baseball glove image and a related comment son Aaron posted on Facebook:

(To Andy, Carrie and Aaron With Love, Dad)

RE: "One Lord, One God and Father (Absolute Quantum Singularity) of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all" (Eph 4:6 KJV)

True Immortality might be a lot less abstract and much more concrete (Re: "Real") than that, Son, as Neville Goddard declares that (seen from a "Top-Down, Single Eye of God or Quantum Perspective") that the Totality of Being, Existence, Creation and/or Consciousness (beyond our present Double-Minded, Bottom-Up Frame of Self-Reference) is actually made up of an Infinite Number of Potential "States of Consciousness" [Re: "In My Father's House (Mind, Awareness of Being or Consciousness) are Many Mansions..." (States of and in a Single Field of Awareness)]; States of Being or Conscious Existence that are Simultaneously Present  (Re: All at Once in No Time, as a Quantum Singularity that Exists prior to and beyond any and all human conception).

Seen in this Light,  "Every-Thing and Every-One" that "Ever Was or Ever Will Be" (from a Relative, Space-Time Bound, Human Frame of Self-Reference) Still Is Everlastingly (if not Eternally); and is thus Present from Alpha to Omega (Beginning to End).

All of which coincides quite nicely (from an operational perspective) with the Intuitively Logical Notion that (from a "Top Down, God's Eye or Quantum, All-Seeing Point of View) "IT (BEING and AWARENESS thereof) IS, WAS and MUST ALWAYS BE ONE" (Perfectly Self-Integrated and Integral) ABSOLUTE WHOLE".]

Memorial Day Tribute to TSgt Clyde B. Alloway

A Memorial Tribute to Technical Sgt. Clyde B. Alloway, a long-ago friend, fellow aircrew member and comrade in arms, who didn't make it back from Vietnam:

After almost 43 years, my general recollection of Vietnam is 3 months of "learning the job," 6 months of "cowboys and Indians," and 3 months of a “guy could get killed doing this." What I do remember quite vividly, however, is the night of June 6th, 1970; the night we lost TSgt Clyde B. Alloway during an AC-119K Gunship emergency bailout after takeoff from DaNang Air Base.

The following poem was written as a tribute to Clyde in 1982 for a 4th of July POW/MIA speech [which can pretty much be summed up: "There are no good wars, only good men!" (a line mentioned during the talk a reporter asked to use)] I was honored make:

To One Left Behind

To one left Behind,
Who lives on in my mind;
To one I left there,
Beyond worry and care;
Who lives on in my heart,
And from whom I can’t part.
Though not with me here,
He has nothing to fear,
His duty is done,
And mine only begun;
For though gone from my sight,
I’ll still carry his light;
Nor forget what he’s done,
As a true, faithful son.

1982 Rich Hay

[Rich Note: Have to admit feeling a lot like the aged Private Ryan did at the end of "Saving Private Ryan," at least with regard to the 40 plus years of life I have been blessed to live since that “long ago night when our plane and crew went down and one of us didn’t make it home."]

Hay-Ku if the Day ("Judge No Man After the Flesh")

The divisive way
Relative self-thought functions
Spawns duality.

The partial report
Of relative sense makes me
Think I'm separate.

The appearance of
Twoness in my world happens
Within my own mind.

[Rich Note: Related introduction to Chapter 5, "Of Twain One New Man," of "Out of My Mind and Back to My Senses" (OOMM):

"What’s going on within the geographic confines of your skull, behind your eyes, right now? Is it not everything you see before your eyes, and is this not actually composed of patterns of mental energy arising within your own head? Is it not also true that the patterns which you presently identify as yourself are composed of the exact same mental material you identify as other? This being true, how is it possible to be so intimately identified with one portion of your awareness, and so self-alienated from the other? Perhaps because the preponderance of your attention is habitually focused on the former, while you are proportional less sensitive and aware of the latter."]

Hay-Ku of the Day (Perfect Knowledge)

Knowing by Virtue
Of Being That which One Knows
Is Perfect Knowledge.

[Rich Note: With respect to any "Enlightenment or Illumination Here,"
I've been looking for someone to put this into words for 35 years:

"One should never accept anything until he can prove it out for himself.  There are two ways of proving things, externally and internally.  Externally is proving it in the world by doing it.  Internally is by seeing it intuitively through the omniscient part of oneself."

(Lester Levenson in "The Ultimate Truth About Love and Happiness")

[Rich Note: The Human Way is Seeing and Knowing Self-Reflectively with (or in)  the Head; the Divine Way is Seeing and Knowing Directly with (or in) the Heart.]

Haiku of the Day (Absolute Love)

God is Absolute
Love of Being Consciously
Present and Aware.

God's the Absolute
Love of Being Consciously
Present as I Am.

[Rich Note: Or, in more Scriptural Language:

"One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Ephesians 4:6-7 (KJV)

"The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." Zephaniah 3:17-18 (KJV)

"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Romans 5:5-6 (KJV)

"But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him." 1 John 2:5-6 (KJV)

"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." 1 John 4:7-8 (KJV).]

Blogger "Hay-Ku of the Day" Redux

Rich Note: For some reason I stopped posting here in April of 2011, two years ago, and pretty much posted exclusively on Gather (rfhay333.gather.com), except for sending automatic links to Facebook and Twitter. Something I would have likely continue to do, if Gather hadn't gone in the tank two weeks ago. So, until that gets resolved one way or another, I will resume posting "The Hay-Ku of the Day" here; starting with the new "Absolute Love" Hay-Ku posted several days ago.  Even if Gather does survive, however, it is my present intent to continue posting here as a back-up/echo of what is posted there. I'll also provide notification here if Gather does resurrect, as there will continue to be more than 600 posts on Gather missing here. Gather Link: ]
