Haiku of the Day (Worldly Matters)

Waiting here at the
Motor Vehicle Bureau --
Practicing patience.

Over-bloated house,
Swollen with self-importance --
Bellowing bullfrog.

Clanging pots and pans
Startle my thoughtful repose --
Another wake-up call.

Liquor store bottle,
Easing with forgetfulness
My soul sick sorrow.

[Rich Note: A correlated sequence from Chapter I, "In the Beginning was the Word," of "Out of My Mind and Back to My Senses" (OOMM).]

Hay-Ku of the Day (Value Judgements are Self-Criticism)

All I can See or
Know is an Energetic
State of Awareness.

What I now call me
Is a Vibrant State of the
Awareness I Am.

***

All I See is an
Energetic state of the
Awareness I Am.

All I Really See
Is a Vibrant State of the
Awareness I Am.

***

All I Know is an
Energetic State of the
Awareness I Am.

All I Now See is
An Energetic State of
Awareness Itself.

***

The Content of the
Awareness I Am is a
State of Awareness.

The Present Content
Of the Awareness I am
Is a State thereof.

***

"Self and other" are
Both states of the "Awareness
Of Being I Am."

"Inside and outside"
Are States of the "Awareness
Of Being I Am."

***

Criticizing a
State of my Awareness is
Criticizing Me.

Criticism of
A State of my own Mind is
Self-criticism.

***

Judging anything
Is judging a state of the
Awareness I Am.

A value judgment
Bears witness against my
Self as Awareness.

Judging others is
Bearing false witness against
Awareness Itself.

(1) Scripture-Wise

"Judge not, that ye be not judged." Matthew 7:1 KJV

"Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door." James 5:9 KJV

(2) Bill Samuel-Wise:

"...Right now I look outside and simply see a fence being a fence. Any judgmental criticism would be foolish SELF- criticism.

"Why would it be self-criticism?

"Because Awareness and all it includes is who and what I am. It is self-criticism as surely as looking at one of my fingers and condemning it for not being a thumb..."

(3) Metaphor-Wise:

"What’s going on within the geographic confines of your skull, behind your eyes, right now? Is it not everything you see before your eyes, and is this not actually composed of patterns of mental energy arising within your own head? Is it not also true that the patterns which you presently identify as yourself are composed of the exact same mental material you identify as other? This being true, how is it possible to be so intimately identified with one portion of your awareness, and so self-alienated from the other? Perhaps because the preponderance of your attention is habitually focused on the former, while you are proportional less sensitive and aware of the latter."

Hay-Ku of the Day (This "Bare Sense of Being I Am")

"I Am" this "Bare Sense
Of Being Present" as the
"Light of Awareness."

***

This "Sense of Being
Present and Aware" as "I
Am" is the "Christ Child."

This Sense of Being
Present and Aware as I
Am is the "Child Heart."

This "Sense of Being
Present and Aware" as "I
Am" is "God Expressed."

***

This "Awareness of
Being I Am" is the "Love"
Of "God Manifest."

This "Awareness of
Being I Am" is the "Life"
Of "God Manifest."

This "Aware Presence
Of Being I Am" is the
"Light of Awareness."

(1) Galen Sharp-Wise:

Re: "...My friend was talking about the true sense of “I am” and how this “I am” was neither something nor nothing, but was prior to, or upstream of all conceptual thoughts such as self and other. I saw that this bare sense of being was the “light” of consciousness. We may also call it the sense of presence, here, now. This sense of “I am” is neither something nor nothing, but was the clear light of consciousness in which all else appears..."

"...There is no one but God, no self, no others and He is our very consciousness and our True Life. How else can it be? Now the important thing is, He is just our bare sense of “I am,” pure consciousness without an object. But Christ is not our thoughts or feelings or our desires or fears nor even our mind. And, especially not the false, separate, conceptual “me” we always thought we were. That “me” is not Christ. Far from it. This is what the scripture means –“Whosoever shall seek to save his life (the conceptual self, ‘me’) shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.” [Luke 17: 33] You must lose your (conceptual) life to find it (your non-conceptual life, the sense of “I am” in Jesus)...Of course one cannot say “I am Jesus” but we can say that the pure sense of “I am” is the Spirit of Christ..."

"...Once this is understood many scriptures we have glossed over in the past as enigmatic will now jump out as very meaningful and profound. The Bible will open up for you..."

(from "Non-Dual Teachings of the Bible" by Galen Sharp)

(2) Sri Nisargadatta-Wise:

"Abidance in the knowledge "I Am" (Knowingness, Aware Presence or Self) which does not identify with the body-mind is spiritual light."  -- Sri Nisargadatta

(3) Scripture-Wise:

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid..." Matthew 5:14 KJV

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 KJV

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men." John 1:4 KJV

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world."  John 1:9 KJV

"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory." Colossians 3:2-4 KJV...

"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light." Matthew 6:22 KJV

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:" Philippians 2:5 KJV

I Am the “Holy Grail” through
Which the Father Flows.]

Hay-Ku of the Day (The Light of the World)

The "Light of the World"
Is the Awareness I Am
In which Life Is Seen.

The "Light of the World"
Is the Awareness in and
Through which it is Seen.

The "Light of the World"
Is the Awareness without
Which nothing can Be.

Scriptural Correlatives:

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." Matthew 5:14 KJV

"As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." John 9:5 KJV
"In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." John 1:4,9 KJV

Hay-Ku of the Day (Shadows of Light)

"What Is" when I stop
Looking at Shadows is the
"Light of God I Am."

"What Is" when I stop
Looking at Shadows is the
"Awareness I Am."

What Is" when I stop
Staring at Shadows is the
"Light of Awareness."

***

"You're the Light of the
World but can't see It looking
At mental shadows."

"You're the Light of the
World but can't see It standing
In your own shadow."

[Rich Note: The last two are haiku paraphrases of "You are the light of the world, but you cannot see it when you stand in your own shadow" from "The Return of the Dove" by Diadra Price, which inspired the first three.]

Hay-Ku of the Day ("Simple Attention" -- a 8/29/14 Reprise Plus)

"Simple Attention
Is the Way to Freedom, Rest
And Reality."

***

Self-Observation
Is "...the Way to Freedom, Rest
And Reality."

Being Self-Aware
Is "...the Way to Freedom, Rest
And Reality."

***

Paying Attention
To "What Is As It Is" ends
Bondage to ego.

Paying Attention
To "What Is As It Is" ends
All mental bondage.

***

Being a Witness
To "What Is" creates mental
Space and leverage.

As a Witnessing
Presence I have both mental
Space and leverage.

***

Cultivating a
Witnessing attitude is
The Way out of Jail.

Awakening to
Present-Minded Awareness
Restores Paradise.

Awakening to
Awareness of Awareness
Resurrects Glory.

[Rich Note: The first paraphrased and related Hay-Ku were inspired by the following Galen Sharp quote from "What Am I? A Study of Non-Volitional Living":

"Our mindset is the jailor and our world-view is the jail.  But you can't break out of prison by attacking them directly.  In fact, you don't even need to attack them at all; just be aware of them and continue to observe them. Simple observation is the way to reality freedom and rest. Under continuous observation your illusions expose themselves and simply dissolve away like the Wicked Witch of the West."

(1) As an add-on to this "2014 reprise," here's a wonderful "roadmap extracted" of Galen's "Realization," also from, "What Am I?

http://www.searchwithin.org/download/realization_galen_sharp.pdf

(2) An additional add-on, Cross-Correlative Quote:

"When the mind is examined, its activities cease automatically. This is the method of jnana. The pure mind is the Self."  ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi ]

Hay-Ku of the Day (The Self-Knowing Light of Awareness I Am)

The Radiant Self-
Knowing Awareness I Am
Is Seeing Itself.

The Radiant Self-
Knowing Awareness I Am
Sees Itself Alone.

***

The Self-Radiant
Living Light of Awareness
I Am is the Truth.

The Self-Radiant
Living Light of Awareness
I Am is the Christ.

***

The "Self-Knowing Light"
Of "Awareness I Am" is
The "Light of the World."

The "Self-Knowing Light"
Of the "Awareness I Am"
"Love made Manifest."

***

I Am "Self-Knowing,
Luminous and Evident"
As "Aware Presence."

God Manifests as
The Living Light of the Pure
Awareness I Am.

Manifest as the
Living Light and Love of the
Awareness I Am.

(1) Rupert Spira-Wise:

"It is the light of our own self, aware presence (the Knowledge I Am), that shines in the knowing or experiencing of any object."

"...And this ‘knowing’ is our self, aware presence. In other words, all that is ever experienced is our self knowing itself, awareness aware of awareness..."

"...If we forget about the light of our own being, we think that we see a physical object, but as soon as we remember our self—as soon as our self is no longer seemingly veiled by the ‘I-the-separate-inside-self’ thought—we realize that it is only a modulation of the light of our being that is really known, that knows its own ever-present self, just as, relatively speaking, in trees, hills and mountains we see only the modulated light of the sun..."

(2) Sri Nisargadatta-Wise:

"Abidance in the knowledge "I Am" (Knowingness, Aware Presence or Self) which does not identify with the body-mind is spiritual light..."

"Self-love and "I Am" without words are the same."

-- Sri Nisargadatta

(3) Scripture-Wise:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1 KJV

"In him was Life; and the Life was the Light of men." John 1:4 KJV

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." John 1:9 KJV

"As long as I Am in the world, I Am the Light of the world." John 9:5 KJV

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." Matthew 5:14 KJV

"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." 1 John 4:16 KJV

Hay-Ku of the Day (The Spider of Self-Ignorance and Doubt)

Old:

Caught-up in details,
A web of my own weaving,
Lunch for the spider.

New:

"What a tangled web
We weave..." when we fall prey to
Egocentric thought.

"What a tangled web
We weave..." when we fall prey to
Endless mental doubt.

"What a tangled web
We weave..." when we fall prey to
The half-truths of mind.

***

"What a tangled web
We weave..." when we fall prey to
"The Story of Me."

"What a tangled web
We weave..." when we fall prey to
The "Me that says My."

"What a tangled web
We weave when we fall prey to
"Separate self-sense."

A Related Story:

"The Weaver"

"There is a busy spider weaving webs,
Hanging my understanding with
Impenetrable mysteries—
Intricately woven.
Threatening all men, is
This busy weaver in its labor
Befogging man's reassuring.
There is a busy spider which threads the day,
Trailing its silver from wisdom to wisdom,
Enwrapping one with the other—
Until Wisdom is lost!
Oh, there is a busy spider—
Called Doubt!"

--  Patience Worth

[Rich Note: The "real answer" to untangling and navigating the "mental spider's web of doubt" in this world is to look within, to one's own Heart, where the "entire web" is reflected; and that in the very same way each particular dew drop on the shared "bejeweled spider web" image reflects the whole web.]
