Hay-Ku of the Day (Divine Name Calling)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(Apparent Fence Photograph)

Apparent Fence © 2009 RFHay; As the fence (and the limitation it implies) in this photo is only a reflected image of the “real one” so is “I as I think I am” only a reflected image of the “Real One” – the One I Am in Spirit and Truth; Companion haiku: Accompanying.

I Am is a Name
For God that is on my lips
Many times as day.

I Am is a Name
For God “I as I think” take
In vain constantly.

“I am this or that”
Is an unwitting decree
Spoken in God’s Name.

Hay-Ku of the Day (Name and Nature)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(Father and Son Photograph)

Father and Son (c) 2009 RFHay; Son Aaron, Grandson Josiah and I are all called by the same last name, Hay; and, as we all originate from the same family line and gene pool, have, at least to some degree, the same nature; Companion haku: Accompanying.

“I am” called by the
Name of God and abuse the
Privilege mightily.

[Rich Note: “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mind heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.” (Jer 15:16 KJV)]

[Rich Note: In the esoteric, inner teaching or mystical tradition a “name” represents the specific “quality, character or nature” of the individual state of Being so named. As such, a name is not a random label slapped on a particular state of existence arbitrarily, but represents the specific vibratory quality or nature at its heart and for which it is so named.]

Hay-Ku of the Day (In the Beginning)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(In the Beginning Photograph)

In the Beginning (c) 2008 RFHay; "In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was God (the Son) and the Word was with God (the Father). The same was in the beginning with God" (John 1:1-2); Companion haiku: Accompanying.

I Am is the First
Name of All and declares the
Presence of Being.

I Am is the First
Name of All and declares One’s
Essential Presence.

Hay-Ku of the Day (The First Word of All)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(The Word Abstract Drawing)

The Word © 1978 RFHay; This is a repeat of an old favorite from OOMM that is a multi-directional symbol that relates directly to today’s post and is fairly easy to decipher if one “looks without words” (Guesstimates are welcome); Companion haiku: Accompanying.

I Am Is The First
Person Singular of the
Present Tense To Be.

Hay-Ku of the Day (The Absolute One)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(A Divine Sign Photograph)

A Divine Sign © 2009 RFHay; About fell over when I came upon this “sign”; a sign that is, quite literally, a conceptual marriage of “Heart and Head” (with Heart holding the preeminent position over Mind); Companion haiku: Accompanying.

An Absolute God
That is other than I Am
Is not Absolute.

[Rich Note: I AM = The First Person Singular of the Present Tense to Be; I Am = A Local Manifestation, Expression or Reflection (“Image and Likeness of” if you prefer) of the “One I AM in All”; and that as a form of “conceptual notation” intended to remind “I as I think I am” or “ego” (I am) that it is not really God; however much it may enjoy “playing its present role” as a “Pseudo Center of the Universe.”]

Hay-Ku fo the Day (A Conceptual Quantum Leap)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.

(Divine Family Photograph)

Divine Family © 2009 RFHay; If Being has both an Aware and a Present component, which equates to Aware-Presence or Consciousness of Being, and God is Being Itself, then Consciousness of Being is One and shared jointly by All; Companion haiku: Accompanying.

If God is not “A
Being” but “Being Itself”
“To Be” is Holy.

If God is not “A
Being” but “Being Itself”
All Life is Sacred.

[Rich Note: "God as Being" instead of "God as a Being" is a "conceptual shift or leap" that turned Thomas Merton (after coming across the idea that “God Is Being” in a book entitled “The Spirit of Mediaeval Philosophy,” by Etienne Gilson) from the life of a "hedonistic, intellectual skeptic and womanizer,” who candidly admitted: “I was interested in doing good for only one person in the world, myself,” to a Catholic Monk , Mystic, supporter of the 60’s Peace Movement and world renown author of an autobiography entitled, “The Seven Story Mountain.” (Related Hay-Ku: Merton became a theist when he realized God is “Being Itself.”]

Hay-Ku of the Day (Pure Grace)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(Unmerited Favor Photograph)

Unmerited Favor © 2009 RFHay; If this isn’t Pure Grace manifest in the form of a Lovely Family, I don’t know what is; also just had a thought as to how interesting it is that “I” as the photographer never show up in “family pictures"; Companion haiku: Accompanying.

"God Recognized As
Creation's Essence*" is the
Grace of All Being.

[Rich Note: *A rather profound "footnote” Arthur Hancock added to a personal inscription to a lady named Grace, found on a copy of “The Game of God, Recovering Your True Identity," bought to pass along to son, Aaron.]

[Rich Note: And, more "metaphorically speaking," if I Am (as You Are) thus “Fore (before the worlds were) Given” the “Nature of God" as the "Aware-Presence of Being I Am,” Am I (as Being Itself) not the One (The Holy One in the midst of Thee) Jesus referred to when he said, "Ye are the Light of the World”?]

[Rich Note: This is the 2-20-09 hay-ku that wasn’t posting yesterday due to an early get up, no power cord for the laptop and all day travel back from Eugene.]

Hay-Ku of the Day (Self-Conditioned)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(Personal Artifacts Photograph)

Personal Artifacts © 2005 RFHay: Artifacts and books full of pronouns (re: “me, myself, I, you, they, them, he, she and it”) that constantly reinforce the idea "I am a separate person"; Companion haiku: Accompanying.

I am conditioned
To think "I am a person"
Instead of Being.

I am conditioned
to think of myself as a
"Separate person."

[Rich Note: The following related (and as I like to call them “naturally occurring”) haiku appears on page 37 of “Love’s Quite Revolution, The End of the Spiritual Search," by Scott Kiloby:

“The simple truth is
That there is no separate
You outside of thought.”]

Hay-Ku of the Day (Misidentified)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(Living Metaphor Photograph)

Living Metaphor © BKWright 2007; The “dead, downward pointing leaves" vs the "living, upward pointing leaves” of this desert plant call to mind the “dead memories of the mind” in contrast to the “Living Presence of Being” in which they arise; Companion haiku: Accompanying.

Self-identified
With “I as I think” I miss
Myself as I Am.

Self-identified
With “this or that thought" I miss
The Knowledge I Am.

Hay-Ku of the Day (Feeling I Am)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(Reflected States of Being)

Reflected States of Being © 2008 RFHay; Being can be metaphorically equated to the physical actualities represented in this image and its reflection in the water as relative states of that self-same Being; Companion haiku: “Try to feel what it means to be, just be, without self-reflective thought."

“Try to feel what it
Means to be” prior to any
Concept of Being."

Try to feel what it
Means to be, just be, without
Being "this or that."

[Rich Note: Abbreviated versions inspired by the following Sri Nisargadatta, “I AM THAT” pointer: “Our usual attitude is ‘I am this’ or ‘that’. Separate consistently and perseveringly the ‘I am’ from ‘this’ or ‘that’ and try to feel what it means to be, just to ‘be’, without being ‘this’ or ‘that’.” ]

(Beach Scene Photograph)

Beach Scene (c) 2008 RFHay; Self-identified with bodily “thought, sense and feeling,” I believe I am "this" body-mind organism and not “that” which I think, see and feel to be other I Am (re: the earth, air and water in this beach scene); Companion haiku: Believing I am "this or that" causes a sense of separation.

Believing I am
"This or that" causes a sense
Of Being apart.

(Mustard Seed Faith Photograph)

Mustard Seed Faith © 2008 RFHay: Although this is not a mustard plant, this little beach shrub demonstrates the faith Jesus spoke of when he declared, “ If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed...nothing shall be impossible unto you" (Matt 17:20); Companion haiku: Accompanying.

Amazing how I
Have faith in “my being” but
Not Being Itself.

Is This a Rainbow? (c) 2009 RFHay: No, it is refracted white light (which is only another concept) until someone observes and conceives it to be a rainbow (even though there is "no bow" about it); Companion haiku: Accompanying.

Hay-Ku of the Day (Passing Mental Fancy)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(Passing Fancy Photograph)

Passing Fancy © 2006 RFHay; This photo is pretty much all that remains of an "authorship concept" the mind entertained (abet somewhat reluctantly and never too seriously) when the "proverbial book" was first published; Companion haiku: Accompanying.

Concepts are mental
Graven images that the
Mind tends to worship.

[Rich Note: Paying attention to "things" (which, in some way shape or form are partial concepts of Being and might be called "thinks" or "units of thought") is, depending on the depth and duration of the of one's mental preoccupation, a functional definition of Worship, Love and Sacrifice of oneself as a conceptual center of awareness.]

Hay-Ku of the Day (Mental Graven Image)

[Rich Note: Companion image may be viewed at rfhay333.gather.com.]

(Hell Froze Over Photograph)

Hell Froze Over © 2009 RFHay: As a long suffering Phillies' fan (circa 1957), I can attest that fan obsession (yours truly included) approaches religious zeal and passion seldom seen in church – witness the 2.5 million that showed up for the Championship parade and the Nielsen Ratings associated with the Super bowl: Companion haiku: “I as I think” is a graven image of "mine" I worship as “me.”

“I as I think” is
A graven image of mind
"I assume is real."

“I as I think” is
A graven image of thought
"I believe I am."

[Rich Note: Biblically speaking, this seldom recognized subtly relates directly to man's unwitting violation of Outlaw (It’s only a Divine Law if you identify yourself as “separate from” and thus “outside the Law”; otherwise It’s Your Own Divine Nature) Commandment Number Two (at least with respect to the original order given in Exodus 20:1-4 {KVG}, right there after “I Am the Lord thy God…{and}…Thou shalt have not other gods before me.”]

OCNJ Boardwalk Sunset (c) 2008 RFHay; Lots of "potential mental content" in this image for the mind to be preoccupied with and so miss the Field of Awareness in which it arises; Companion haiku: Accompanying
